Upscale Sotheby’s International Realty (‘SIR’), in partnership with Golden Gate Sotheby’s International Realty (‘GGSIR’) has announced their acquisition of the assets and agents of the legendary, 101-yearold family-owned McGuire Real Estate Company, which has long been known for providing luxury real estate services in the Bay Area. Sotheby’s International Realty, led by Executive Vice President Jeff Gibson, will acquire McGuire’s 3 San Francisco offices, while Golden Gate Sotheby’s, led by President and CEO Bill Bullock, will assume ownership of the remaining McGuire offices at 360 Primrose Avenue in Burlingame, and 2961 College Avenue in Berkeley. The McGuire acquisition culminated in over a year of negotiation, and marks the inaugural in SIR/GGSIR acquisition partnership efforts.

Bill Bullock, CEO of Golden Gate Sotheby’s International Realty commented “Our acquisition of the highly-productive agents and the beautiful, stand-alone Burlingame office, in its premier Burlingame location, will enable us to dramatically increase our Burlingame/ Hillsborough market share. Equally impactful and impressive, our acquisition of the highly productive agents and high-visibility office at the corner of College and Ashby Avenues in Berkeley will strengthen our already-dominating market share in Berkeley, which ranked 11th in cities by volume of closed escrows, for GGSIR in 2019.”

McGuire Real Estate President and CEO Charles Moore will join Sotheby’s International Realty as a consultant. Moore’s leadership team will transition to Sotheby’s as well, with Lauren Bensinger serving as Vice President of Operations and Aldo Congi assuming the role of Vice President and Brokerage Manager. Chris Dubois, in collaboration with Abbie Higashi, former McGuire General Counsel and Manager of the McGuire Burlingame and Berkeley offices, will jointly manage the GGSIR Alameda Region as Vice President of Sales and Risk Management. Abbie Higashi will also continue to oversee the Burlingame office operation during the acquisition, after which time mangers Chris Isaacson and Jennifer Peck will add Burlingame to their northern San Mateo County operation.

The addition of McGuire Real Estate will further enhance Sotheby’s dominance in the luxury real estate market in the Bay Area, which now includes a total of 30 offices and more than 725 independent sales associates. According to Golden Gate Sotheby’s COO Heidi Pay, their combined offices brokered more than $8 Billion in sales volume in 2019 alone.

In 2017 Decker Bullock Sotheby’s in Marin County joined forces with Dreyfus Sotheby’s in the Silicon Valley to become Golden Gate Sotheby’s International Realty. Since then the powerhouse brokerage has gone on a buying spree, acquiring the likes of Bay Sotheby’s in Oakland, Campi Properties in Los Altos, along with peninsula-based Today Sotheby’s, and Heritage Sotheby’s serving the Napa Valley.
